P.E.I. choreographer Reequal Smith of Oshun Dance Studios is one of 13 Canadian artists selected to be part of a new international project collaborating with artists from the United States.

Reequal Smith came to Prince Edward Island from her home in the Bahamian islands of New Providence to study dance at Holland College's School of Performing Arts.

Reequal Smith says receiving an arts grant has given her confidence in her work, allowing her to pursue future goals.

Smith is among 16 Island artists who recently received a total of $50,220 through the provincial Arts Grants program.
